Obersteinberg Hotel

Sunday and Monday we hiked and stayed overnight at this 'candle light'  hotel, named as such because they don't have electricity.   You can only get here by hiking or horse or helicopter.
On the way we climbed to Tanzbodeli, the 'little dance floor', a football-field-sized flat area up over 2000 meters.   The hike to it started at below 1300m so it was over a 2000 foot uphill on a steep trail.  Looking back, you could see all the towns where we had been.
Hike and hotel were worth every moment of exertion.  Of the 31 guests there that night, we were the only English-speaking ones. We dined by candlelight in the evening.
Simple foods. They run a dairy there so fresh milk, butter, cheeses and whipped cream.   No one on a diet here!
Back to Gimmelwald for one more night in the mountains.
We noticed they did have some electricity in the kitchen and had phone service, but kept the candle light ambiance for the guests--no electricity and no heat.  Got down to 4C (40F) during the night. They had huge down comforters on the beds to keep you warm.
